My approach to psychotherapy is holistic in nature encompassing the body and the mind. Emotions have a direct affect on how we feel mentally and physically and emotions are often linked to physically illness. In order to bring about a state of overall wellness, we need for body and mind to work together. Perception is a key factor and often once our perception shifts, we experience a change in mood and how we feel physically. Stress is unavoidable and anxiety and/or depression is often the result leaving us feeling helpless and hopeless. In our sessions together I will guide you, encourage and empower you. We are in charge of how we react to any given stressor or traumatic event. Besides "talk therapy" aka psychotherapy, I utilize a variety of different modalities to improve and maintain your life. Each session differs and you are in charge. I encourage you to participate and I invite you to do the homework assignments I will provide you with. I will teach you tools to use in your daily life. It is my belief that while talking is therapeutic, we often need reminders for when we leave a session.
The first session is considered the intake and is used to get to know each other. In order for you to get the most out of your sessions, finding the right therapist is crucial and therefore it is of importance for both client and therapist to be honest and openly discuss any issues that may arise or are foreseeable. Consecutive sessions are 60-90 minutes long depending on the modality used. Often when tapping is used, the client may experience various "aha" moments which are being processed.
